Public meeting on taxes | Yorktown and Cortlandt region

The New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finances is coming to Corltandt for a public forum. Here?s the announcement from Assemblywoman Sandra Galef:

State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef will host a conversation on, Thursday, June 7th from 7-9pm at the Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor, with NYS Commissioner of Taxation and Finance Thomas H. Mattox to discuss taxation, tax laws, and other financial issues that impact individuals and business owners in New York State.

Thomas H. Mattox, the New York State Commissioner of Taxation and Finance, will speak and answer questions concerning taxation and its impacts on those living in New York State. Commissioner Mattox has served in his current position since January 2011. The Department of Taxation and Finance has recently merged with the Office of Real Property Service in order to combine all tax related matters in New York State into one efficient department.

Topics to be discussed include: the latest changes in tax rates and programs in New York State, the Department?s focus on compliance through more effective taxpayer services, STAR exemptions, and property assessments throughout New York State. The commissioner will also respond to questions from the audience.
