Thanks to a recent investment in energy efficiency projects on campus, Framingham State University has received rebate checks totaling $322,012 from utility provider NStar, the school announced on Friday.
The bulk of that amount was delivered just over the past several months, said Framingham State spokesman Dan Magazu, who added the money will go into the university's general operations account.
The school became eligible for the rebates through initiatives like the $6.3 million Energy Performance Contract it signed last year, which has helped pay for things like a conversion of the campus power plant from fuel oil to natural gas.
The university expects to receive more rebate checks for projects still underway, including an expansion of the dining commons and the construction of a new science facility at Hemenway Hall.
